लंदन। जनता कोरोना और लाॅकडाउन, अल्प आय के कारण त्रस्त रही और ब्रिटिश स्वास्थ्य मंत्री अपनी महिला सहकर्मी के साथ अपने आॅफिस में इश्क फरमाते पाए गये। इससे जनता गुस्सा हो उठी है। मांग की जा रही है कि उन्हें गिरफ्तार किया जाए। उन्होंने देश का बहुत नुकसान किया है। महामारी के बीच ब्रिटेन के स्वास्थ्य मंत्री मैट हैनकॉक को अपनी सहयोगी से अफेयर और उनके करीब जाना महंगा पड़ गया। इसके बाद हैनकॉक को अपने पद से इस्तीफा देना पड़ गया। दरअसल, हैनकॉक द्वारा कोविड-19 के नियम तोड़ने पर देशभर में प्रदर्शन शुरू हो गया है। 30 हजार लोग सड़कों पर हैं। लोगों का कहना है कि उन्होंने देश को धोखा दिया है। इसलिए उन्हें गिरफ्तार किया जाए। इस मामले में पुलिस 10 से ज्यादा प्रदर्शनकारियों को गिरफ्तार भी कर चुकी है।
प्रधानमंत्री बोरिस जॉनसन को भेजे इस्तीफे में हैनकॉक ने लिखा- ‘महामारी में लोगों ने जितनी कुर्बानियां दीं, उन्हें देखते हुए अगर हम उनके साथ कुछ गलत करते हैं तो हमारी जिम्मेदारी बनती है कि हम ईमानदार रहें। 42 वर्षीय हैनकॉक की शादी को 15 साल हो चुके हैं। उनकी पत्नी मार्था के साथ उनके तीन बच्चे भी हैं।
ब्रिटेन के प्रधानमंत्री बोरिस जॉनसन ने हैनकॉक का इस्तीफा स्वीकार कर लिया। और को भेजे पत्र में लिखा- ‘आपको अपनी सेवा पर अत्यधिक गर्व होना चाहिए। मैं आपके समर्थन के लिए आभारी हूं। यह मानता हूं कि सार्वजनिक सेवा में आपका योगदान खत्म नहीं हुआ है।
