वाशिंगटन। कैंसर की दवा बनाने वाली एक भारतीय दवा निर्माता कंपनी फ्रेजेनियस काबी ऑन्कोलॉजी लिमिटेड को रिकॉर्ड छिपाने और नष्ट करने का दोषी मानते हुए अमेरिकी न्याय विभाग ने पांच करोड़ डॉलर का जुर्माना लगाया है। दरअसल, किसी भी दवा को मंजूरी देने से पहले फूड एंड ड्रग एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन (एफडीए) उस जगह का निरीक्षण करता है जहां पर इसे बनाया जा रहा है। वर्ष 2013 में एफडीए की टीम ने मैन्युफैक्चरिंग प्लांट का निरीक्षण किया था लेकिन इससे पहले ही कंपनी ने ना केवल जरूरी रिकॉर्ड छिपाए बल्कि उन्हें नष्ट भी किया।
मीडिया रिपोटर््स के अनुसार, आरोप है कि इससे पहले फ्रेजेनियस काबी ऑन्कोलॉजी लिमिटेड (एफकेओएल) को एफडीए कानूनों के उल्लंघन का दोषी पाया गया था। जांच के दौरान कंपनी जरूरी दस्तावेज उपलब्ध कराने में नाकाम रही थी। एफकेओएल का भारत के राज्य पश्चिम बंगाल के कल्याणी में मैन्युफैक्चरिंग प्लांट है। यहां पर अमेरिका में बेचने के लिए कैंसर से जुड़ी दवाएं बनाई जाती हैं। कंपनी ने अपना अपराध कुबूल कर लिया है। कंपनी पर तीन करोड़ डॉलर का आपराधिक जुर्माना लगाए जाने के साथ ही दो करोड़ डॉलर का अतिरिक्त जुर्माना लगाया गया है। जज ने कहा कि दवा निर्माण से जुड़े रिकॉर्ड को छिपाने और नष्ट करने से एफकेओएल ने ना केवल एफडीए के नियमों का उल्लंघन किया है बल्कि गंभीर रूप से बीमार मरीजों को भी खतरे में डाला है।
